Vision Testing

So, I took my kids for a drs visit and they did an eye exam. You know how they use letters for older kids? Well, they use pictures for really little kids like my 3 year old daughter. The nurse would point at a picture (it would be either an umbrella, apple or a house) and ask what it was. Every time, my daughter yelled "Finger!"

The nurse would explain that it was a house, umbrella or apple again. Then she'd point to it again. Once more, my daughter would yell "Finger!" This went on for about 10 minutes before the nurse flat out gave up.

I was bullied

This is a post I wrote about my experiences with bullying. I am still not very comfortable with the memories and it's not something I talk about much. I haven't shared this with many people outside of Crasstalk. However, now that I have kids, I'm going to have to start thinking about it again so this is my attempt to start thinking:

Boy are the Unschoolers Mad at Me

I'm not surprised because I totally asked for it. I just wanted to mention a couple of things.

• Although I use humor as a tool, this article is not a joke and was not intended as one. Humor is a time-tested tool for social commentary. Whether I'm funny or not is another question entirely.
• A lot of research went into this article. I think I've spent the last four years researching this topic.
• For the record, I support many alternative approaches to education. I believe that the unschooling approach is too extreme.
